WeWork expanding local operations with Cape Town offices on the way
Earlier this year WeWork announced that it would open their first South African location in Johannesburg, where Naspers will be one of their tenants.
Now the creative office specialists have announced that they are expanding their operations to a second location – Cape Town.
According to WeWork, they will be taking four floors of a building co-owned by Emira Property Fund and Swish Property Group in Cape Town in the fourth quarter of this year.
“As WeWork prepares to launch its first location in South Africa, we’re pleased to announce our expansion to Cape Town. Not only is the flourishing city in terms of culture and opportunity, but for business, it’s a central point for entrepreneurs and large companies to be based,” said head of WeWork EMEA, real estate, Patrick Nelson.
Furthermore the company says that they will also have a new office space at 155 West Street in Sandton, Johannesburg, near main transport links and well-connected roads, which will be their second location in the city.
“Since announcing our expansion to South Africa, we’ve seen great interest from companies of all sizes, including Naspers, who will be moving into our first location in Johannesburg later this year, I’m excited to already be expanding our portfolio in Johannesburg with our second location in the city located at 155 West Street,” Nelson explained.
“As co-owners we are thrilled to provide WeWork with its first Cape Town location, they have chosen an excellent building in a great position in the heart of Cape Town CBD,” added CEO of Emira Property Fund, Geoff Jennett.
“Both Swish and Emira have chosen the vibrant 80 Strand for their own offices in the Mother City, and we are looking forward to welcoming WeWork, its community and the fantastic energy they will add to the building and beyond,” concluded group CEO of Swish, Giancarlo Lanfranchi.
