Emira Property Fund is selling down its stake in Growthpoint Australia and turning its focus to the world’s largest real estate market, the US, where it plans to entrench its position.
POPULAR uMhlanga shopping centre, Granada Square was re-launched on Friday, 30 August with speeches and snacks in the centre’s revamped courtyard.
Andrew Graham, Frank Reardon, Mitch Crowie and Honey Lusu were at the brunch-time launch.
“We have got the over heads covering the piazza, which creates a bit of warmth. The new toilet doors are also spectacular. It’s very different. Those are the major differences. Instead of the open, bland look, we’ve created a combination of cosiness and togetherness. The tiles also make a big difference, they create a walkway to the entrance, it usedto be one colour,” said Theresa Terblanche, divisional director for Broll, managing agents for Emira Property Fund, which owns the centre.

Paul Westdyk, of Westdyk Electrical took on the challenge of updating the centre’s lighting. “We decided to make the centre more energy efficient. We replaced old incandescent fittings with LED lights, lowering the carbon footprint of the centre and making it more efficient and future proof. We also improved the lighting in certain placesto meetthe minimum health and safety requirements,” he said.
Leteasha Basson and Stacey Naidoo from the centre’s Woolworths celebrated the launch with balloons, flowers and samples of their famous snacks.
The centre also boasts updated signage which announces that it is the new and improved Granada Square.
