Health and safety initiatives across Emira’s portfolio

All of Emira’s centre contractors have to comply with the relevant OHS requirements and standards, and specialist contractors are hired to provide on-site fire equipment and safety training for centre staff. To this end, Emira holds awareness meetings with its contractors to engage on pertinent developments in the OHS regulatory environment.
Emira ensures that all applicable agreements with mandatory and workmen’s compensation documentation are in place by conducting internal administrative assessments on all suppliers.
To ensure regulatory compliance, Emira’s centres conduct regular health and safety inspections. Where necessary, certain of the Fund’s retail centres have begun installing nonslip floor tiles.
To prevent health and safety incidents, Emira promptly attends to all required maintenance and repairs Emira has implemented a hazard identification programme, which improves the occupational health and safety reporting process across the portfolio.
Emira ensures that all fire-fighting equipment is properly maintained and kept in working order through scheduled services by accredited companies.
Company representatives meet with local law enforcement to engage on developing crime hotspots and reduce their impact on shopping centres and surrounding communities.
To ensure that Emira complies with safety standards, on-going training for cleaners and security staff is provided.
